The home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth is set in the magnificent
landscape of Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park and features one of Europe’s
finest private art collections, representing 4000 years of European culture and
craftsmanship. It was used in the 2006 movie ‘Pride and Prejudice’ as Pemberley,
Mr Darcy’s family home. In the gardens, there are miles of walks amongst rare

Burghley House, Lincolnshire
Burghley House is the largest and grandest Elizabethan House in England and home to the Cecil family for over 400 years. In the latest adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, Burghley was used for the exterior and interior of Rosings, the imposing home of Lady Catherine de Bourg, daunting dowager aunt of Darcy, and patron of Mr Collins. More recently it also featured in The Da Vinci Code and The Golden Age.

Stamford, Lincolnshire
Often described as the one of the finest Georgian stone towns in England, Stamford
is a darling with the movies and featured in the Hollywood adaptation of Jane
Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’. It still looks much as it did in the nineteenth
century with Barn Hill, a well-preserved and picturesque cobbled stoned street
nestled behind the historic 13th century All Saints Church.

Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln
The 1000 year old Lincoln Cathedral is one of the finest mediaeval buildings
in Europe and featured as Westminster Abbey in The Da Vinci Code. It towers above
the Roman city of Lincoln and is a prominent landmark for miles around. It houses
a priceless collection of manuscripts, including a school book from 1410 containing
the first ever written reference to Robin Hood. The Dean’s Eye Rose window in
the North Transept is one of the most important pieces of mediaeval stained glass
in Europe.
Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire
One of Britain’s greatest and most complete Elizabethan houses, Hardwick Hall
was built by Bess of Hardwick, one of Elizabethan England’s most remarkable women.
It displays her innovative planning and the view over the country park and New
Hall are spectacular.
